UPDATE: The viewing and funeral for fallen Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer Andy Chan are set for next week, following his tragic passing last week. Chan, who was critically injured in a motorcycle accident nearly seven years ago, will be honored by the community he served.
The first viewing will take place on Monday, December 15, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Holy Redeemer Chinese Catholic Church. A second viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, from 8:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m.
Officer Chan was a dedicated and decorated member of the Philadelphia Highway Patrol, receiving a commendation in 2011 for his exemplary service. His legacy continues to resonate within the community, as a yearly fundraiser initially planned for his ongoing care will now serve as a memorial this upcoming Friday.
This is a poignant moment for the Philadelphia community, as they come together to remember a brave officer who dedicated his life to protecting others. The impact of Chan’s sacrifice is felt deeply, and his story serves as a reminder of the risks first responders face daily.
As preparations unfold for the memorial services, the community is encouraged to show their support and participate in honoring Officer Chan’s life and service. Further updates will be shared as the events approach.
