URGENT UPDATE: The community of Santa Cruz mourns the loss of Sally Cooper, a dedicated mother, educator, and youth soccer coach, who passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 71. Known for her unwavering commitment to her family and community, Sally’s impact will be felt for generations.
Born on November 4, 1953, in Long Beach, California, Sally moved to Santa Cruz at just nine years old. She graduated from Soquel High School in 1971, where she met her husband, Kevin Cooper. The couple celebrated an incredible 54 years of marriage, building a life filled with love and devotion.
Sally’s legacy lives on through her four children, Chris, Brian, Jake, and Amy, along with her five grandchildren, Bradley, Troy, Logan, Kendall, and Kenzie. Known for her kindness and energy, Sally dedicated numerous years to coaching youth soccer and working with the Soquel School District, positively influencing countless students and families.
The funeral mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church located at 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola, on Wednesday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m.. In a heartfelt request, the family encourages those wishing to honor Sally’s memory to consider donating to the SPCA, reflecting her love for animals and community welfare.
