Taylor Guitars Unveils 6 New Models in Expanding SOMOS Collection
UPDATE: Taylor Guitars has just announced a significant expansion of its SOMOS Collection®, introducing six new double-course models tailored for Latin music enthusiasts. This highly anticipated release includes three new Bajo Quinto (10-string) and three Doce Doble (12-string) guitars, available now at authorized Taylor dealers and on TaylorGuitars.com.
These new models aim to meet the rising demand for innovative instruments in Latin American music, providing guitarists with fresh textures and tonal possibilities. According to Andy Powers, Chief Guitar Designer and CEO at Taylor Guitars, “With the SOMOS Collection, we’re celebrating our musical and cultural connections that define our home in Southern California and Baja California.”
The expansion highlights Taylor’s commitment to enhancing accessibility for a broader range of players. Each model features a cutaway Dreadnought body, onboard electronics, and a slim, easy-playing neck, making them ideal for both novice and experienced musicians.
The 100 Series models, starting at just $899 USD, offer a traditional aesthetic with a natural matte finish and powerful sound capabilities. The 200 Plus Series models, priced from $1,599 USD, boast a bold blacktop finish and enhanced projection. For those seeking premium quality, the 200 Deluxe Series begins at $2,099 USD and features stunning visuals with layered Hawaiian koa.
Powers emphasizes the cultural significance of the new models, stating, “The SOMOS Collection is literally and spiritually built on both sides of the border.” This reflects Taylor’s dedication to craftsmanship and sustainability, as these guitars are made at their state-of-the-art facility in Tecate, Baja California, just across the border from their headquarters in El Cajon, California.
The SOMOS Collection, which translates to “we are” in Spanish, was designed to echo the unity and identity found within the diverse musical landscape of Southern California. Each model is equipped with D’Addario custom string sets and features a unique setup that enhances resonance without interference.
These new instruments are already being embraced by influential artists in the regional music scene, including members of Grupo Firme and other prominent musicians. “For me, the Taylor bajo quinto and doce doble have really helped me find new ways to express myself,” said Joaquin Ruiz, guitarist for Grupo Firme. “They’ve inspired me with their fresh sound and unique approach.”
The six new models are now ready for purchase, with prices ranging from $899 USD to $1,699 USD. For more information about the SOMOS Collection and to explore these innovative instruments, visit TaylorGuitars.com/Somos.
