UPDATE: A fox in Broomall, Pennsylvania, is in urgent need of rescue after being spotted with a piece of plastic tubing stuck around its neck. The distressing sight has prompted immediate concern from local residents and animal rescue organizations.

Footage captured by local resident Bill Shuker at around 2 a.m. on October 1 shows the fox roaming near his chicken coop, searching for food. “When I zoomed in on the video, I realized there’s something that goes all the way from his head down to the bottom of his neck,” Shuker stated, highlighting the severity of the situation.

The animal rescue group Good Boy Dog Recovery, typically focused on dog rescues, has stepped in to assist. President Colleen Bell revealed that the fox likely has corrugated plastic piping around its neck, potentially picked up while scavenging for food or trying to enter a nearby cat shelter. “The longer he has it on, the more difficult it’s going to be for him to hydrate and eat,” Bell warned, stressing the urgency given the approaching winter.

The community has rallied around the fox, tagging Good Boy Dog Recovery on social media to raise awareness. Bell confirmed they are utilizing humane traps, live surveillance cameras, tracking equipment, and thermal drone technology to locate the fox. “We know we have the resources and expertise to help in a situation like this,” she emphasized.

As of now, the fox’s location remains uncertain, but Bell and her team are developing a strategic trapping plan in collaboration with the Pocono Wildlife and Rehab Center. She urged the public to report any sightings but advised against approaching the animal, which may act defensively. “It’s incredibly important that people do not approach the fox,” Bell stated. “They certainly could – and will – bite. We don’t want anyone getting injured.”

Shuker mentioned that while predators are common near his coop, there have been no incidents involving his chickens, which are safely secured in their coop at night. “Fortunately for the chickens, at a certain time they go into the coop and the door shuts – so they’re safe that way,” he remarked.

As the rescue efforts continue, Bell reassured the public that there is no imminent danger, yet she reiterated the importance of reporting sightings to Good Boy Dog Recovery, including details about the day, time, and direction of travel.

This developing story highlights the urgent need for community involvement and awareness to ensure the safety of the fox. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and assist in the rescue efforts, as the clock ticks for this fox’s recovery.
