UPDATE: A serious five-car crash in Clearfield has left two individuals hospitalized with minor injuries. The incident unfolded earlier today as traffic slowed down, but one driver, reportedly distracted, rear-ended the vehicle in front of them.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Alexander, the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. and resulted in significant traffic disruption, blocking four out of five lanes on the busy roadway. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, transporting the two injured persons to a nearby hospital for treatment.
By 3:30 p.m., authorities reported that only the on/off lane from 700 South to Antelope Drive remained blocked, but traffic was still heavily impacted. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes as crews work to clear the scene.
As investigations continue, officials stress the importance of remaining vigilant while driving, especially in high-traffic areas. This crash serves as a critical reminder of the dangers of distracted driving.
