UPDATE: A 41-year-old man has been arrested following a shocking hammer assault on his roommate early Thursday in Visalia, California. The Visalia Police Department confirmed that the incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. in the 1700 block of South Central Street.
Police responded to urgent reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, where the suspect, identified as Luis Rocha, allegedly struck his roommate multiple times in the head with a hammer. The victim was quickly transported to Kaweah Health Medical Center and is currently listed in stable condition.
As officers arrived at the scene, Rocha attempted to flee in a vehicle. A brief pursuit ensued, but police successfully initiated a traffic stop, leading to his arrest without further incident.
