UPDATE: The United States Postal Service (USPS) is set to maintain normal operations on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, despite the federal government being closed for the day. This comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order designating December 24 and December 26 as federal holidays for 2025.
While most federal employees will enjoy an extended holiday break, with Christmas Day already a recognized federal holiday, USPS will not follow suit. Mail delivery will proceed as usual, and local post offices will remain open, although customers are advised to verify specific hours of operation in their area.
However, be aware that USPS will be closed on Christmas Day, with all mail services paused on December 25. Regular operations will resume on December 26.
Additionally, major shipping companies will operate with limited services on Christmas Eve. UPS will offer pickup only for Air and International Air services, provided arrangements were made by December 18. While no UPS Ground service will be available for pickup, deliveries will continue across all services, and UPS Express Critical service remains active for urgent shipping needs.
Similarly, FedEx is adjusting its services on Christmas Eve, with FedEx Freight closed, yet FedEx stores will operate on modified hours. Their Custom Critical service will be accessible 24/7 for time-sensitive deliveries.
As the holiday season approaches, these operational updates are crucial for those planning to send or receive packages during this festive time. Customers should check with their local postal and shipping offices for the most accurate information regarding hours and services over the holiday weekend.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the holiday season, ensuring all your mailing needs are met efficiently.
