Grand Sierra Resort Contributes $15,000 to Local School Programs
Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) has made a significant contribution of $15,000 to Robert Mitchell Elementary School in Sparks, Nevada. This donation is aimed at enhancing extracurricular programs, providing sports equipment, and facilitating activities that promote teamwork and a passion for learning among students.
During a recent school assembly, Shannon Keel, general manager and president of GSR, emphasized the importance of supporting local educational institutions. “We’re honored to continue our partnership with Robert Mitchell Elementary and to play a small part in helping students reach their full potential,” Keel stated. This initiative reflects GSR’s commitment to community development and educational support.
The donation is part of a broader effort under the GSR Cares program, which focuses on uplifting local initiatives and organizations. The support from GSR has allowed Robert Mitchell Elementary to hire a gym teacher, purchase necessary sports equipment, and provide various activities that enhance the school experience for students.
According to Principal Kristen Conway, “Grand Sierra Resort’s continued generosity makes a tangible difference for our students. Their donations have allowed us to hire a gym teacher, purchase sports equipment, and provide activities that give students more reasons to love coming to school.” This funding also alleviates some of the financial burdens on families, promoting inclusivity in school activities.
GSR Cares not only provides financial support but also engages in volunteer efforts and event sponsorships throughout Northern Nevada. This partnership exemplifies how businesses can play a pivotal role in enriching community resources and educational opportunities.
Located in the scenic Reno-Tahoe region, Grand Sierra Resort is an expansive entertainment destination featuring nearly 2,000 renovated guest rooms, extensive meeting space, and a variety of gaming options. Visitors can enjoy entertainment at the Grand Theatre, numerous dining options, and recreational facilities, making it a central hub for both leisure and community engagement.
