Presbyterian University maintained its undefeated season with a commanding 42-7 victory over Stetson University on October 14, 2023. The Blue Hose dominated the game, showcasing an impressive performance that keeps them at the top of the Pioneer Football League (PFL) with a record of 7-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

Justin Montgomery was the standout player, rushing for three touchdowns. He opened the scoring early, marking the first two touchdowns of the game. By the time the fourth quarter began, Presbyterian had built a substantial lead of 35-0.

The offensive strategy was further enhanced by starting quarterback Collin Hurst, who connected with Cincere Gill for a 21-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Montgomery added his third touchdown in the third quarter, followed by another score from Antonio Wright. Hurst finished the game with a total of 236 passing yards before Ty Englehart took over in relief, contributing with a 6-yard touchdown run that sealed the game at 42-7.

Montgomery’s efficiency was evident, as he accumulated 54 rushing yards on just eight attempts. Presbyterian’s offense has been particularly potent at home this season, scoring at least 40 points in all four home games.

Stetson, now with a record of 3-5 (2-2 in PFL), managed to find the end zone in the fourth quarter when Cayden Betts caught a 26-yard pass from quarterback Gunnar Chenier. Despite this late effort, the Hatters were unable to mount a significant challenge against the Blue Hose.

As the season progresses, Presbyterian’s offensive prowess and Montgomery’s standout performances will be key factors in their pursuit of a successful campaign. The team’s next challenge will be critical as they aim to maintain their impressive form and push for a championship.
