Saint Agnes Medical Center Appoints Luis Avila as VP of Operations

Saint Agnes Medical Center has appointed Luis Avila as its new vice president of operations. Avila joins the organization from Sacramento, where he previously held the position of director of operations for ancillary and support services at Sutter Health Valley Hospitals. His extensive background in healthcare operations is expected to significantly enhance the medical center’s operational strategies.

In his role at Sutter Health, Avila focused on developing innovative strategies aimed at improving both care delivery and patient experiences. His efforts contributed to the financial stability of the health system, where he worked for over 11 years. Avila holds a Master of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga and a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from CalPoly San Luis Obispo.

Leadership Transition and Vision

Gurvinder Kaur, president of Saint Agnes Medical Center, expressed excitement about Avila joining the senior leadership team. In a statement, Kaur noted, “His experience with strategic planning and process improvement will be instrumental in supporting our healing mission to increase access to the highest quality care for our community.”

Avila succeeds William Evo, who began his tenure in the operations role in January 2024. The leadership change comes at a time when healthcare organizations are increasingly focused on enhancing operational efficiencies and improving patient satisfaction.

As Saint Agnes Medical Center prepares for the future, Avila’s proven track record in strategic operations is anticipated to play a crucial role in navigating the evolving landscape of healthcare.
