The vigil, organized by the Ceres Jr. Bulldogs football league, where Amari was an active player, drew dozens of attendees who shared their grief and memories.
Emotional Remembrance for a Young Life Cut Short

He was affectionately known as ‘Ferari Mari’ among friends and teammates. Former football coaches expressed their sorrow and highlighted the potential that was tragically extinguished too soon.
“This tragic man is this messed up. He was a wonderful kid. He was a wonderful kid. Special kid, different, great athlete,”
said Umar Muriset, one of Amari’s coaches, while visibly moved.
The vigil was organized by Joe Estrada, another coach who emphasized the profound loss felt by the community. “Any time a child loses his life to violence, whether he’s with our team or not, it hurts because he doesn’t have the opportunity to go to high school, and he doesn’t have the opportunity to live his life,” Estrada stated, reflecting on Amari’s number 14 jersey that he wore proudly.

In a gesture of remembrance, the league plans to honor Amari by featuring his jersey number, 14, on next season’s uniforms, ensuring that his legacy will continue to resonate within the community.
