Remembering Gloria Ronnau: A Life of Love and Devotion

Gloria “Glo” Ronnau, a beloved matriarch and community figure, passed away at the age of 104. Born in Los Angeles in 1921 to Henry and Bertha Becnel, Gloria lived a life characterized by her unwavering commitment to family and faith. She leaves behind a legacy of love, having nurtured a family that includes four children, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Gloria attended Fremont High School and later worked at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her future husband, Don Ronnau. They enjoyed a strong partnership until Don’s passing in 2007. Together, they built a family rooted in values of loyalty and devotion. Gloria is survived by her children: Ann Sidler (Derald) and Carol Randolph, along with the memories of her late children, Donny (who passed in 2023) and Diane (who passed in 2022).

A Life Dedicated to Family and Community

Gloria made San Pedro her home in 1962, where she became a familiar and cherished presence in the community. For two decades, she worked in the Los Angeles Unified School District, serving at both Banning High School and Dodson Middle School. Gloria’s contributions extended beyond her professional life. She was known for creating an environment where family members felt welcomed and nourished.

Her dedication to family was evident in every aspect of her life. Gloria was not only a mother but also a grandmother and great-grandmother, proud of her role in shaping the lives of Jennifer Randolph, Vincent Randolph (Krystal), Chris Randolph, Tracy Sidler (Eric), and her beloved great-grandchildren: Jackson, Julianna, Jillian, Devin, and Tristan. Her affectionate title of “Auntie Glo” reflected her deep connections with her nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

A Legacy of Humility and Faith

Gloria’s faith was quietly influential, guiding her actions and interactions with others. She embodied humility and generosity, often offering support without seeking recognition. Her consistent presence offered comfort and stability to family and friends alike, making her a true matriarch whose impact will resonate for generations.

Throughout her life, Gloria witnessed significant societal changes but remained steadfast in her values. She prioritized her family, nurturing relationships that transcended mere obligation and fostered genuine love and devotion. Her life was a testament to the strength of familial bonds and the importance of community.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gloria’s life. A visitation will be held from 14:00 to 18:00 on December 21, 2023, accompanied by a recitation of the Rosary at 16:00, at Green Hills Memorial Park, Cove Room. The funeral mass will take place at Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 on December 22, 2023, followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park.
