Beloved Community Figure Connie Strobel Passes Away at 87

Connie Strobel, a cherished member of the Pueblo community, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on July 28, 1938, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Mylert and Wanda Pryor, Connie is remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and her vibrant spirit.

Connie met her husband, John Strobel, in 1953, and they married in 1958. Together, they nurtured a loving household, raising their two children, Karen and Michael Strobel. Their life together was filled with shared experiences and fond memories that have left a lasting impact on their family and friends.

Throughout her life, Connie cherished her family above all else. Her passions included golfing, gardening—where she was known for growing exceptional tomatoes—bird and squirrel watching, fishing at San Isabel Lake, and mushroom picking on 12 Mile Road. These activities reflected her deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors.

Community Contributions and Lasting Legacy

Connie’s commitment to her community was evident through her years of volunteer work. She actively contributed at the St. Patrick Church office and with the St. Mary Corwin Hospital Auxiliary. Her engaging personality and kindness forged strong bonds, particularly with close friends such as Dolores and Ernie Charlifue, Tony and Lorraine Fasulo, and the Von Kalbens, as well as the many young musicians John taught over the years.

The family has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Rivaria, formerly known as Brookdale, for their compassionate care during the last two years of Connie’s life. Their warmth and kindness made a significant difference during this time.

Connie is survived by her children, Karen Bienhoff and Michael (Heather) Strobel, and her beloved nieces: Heather, Tracy, Anna, and Lori. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, and her brother, Ken Pryor.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for December 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Pueblo, Colorado. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. on January 6, 2026, at Great Bend Cemetery, officiated by Father John Stang.
