Nathan MacKinnon Scores 400th, 401st NHL Goals in Historic Night

BREAKING: Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche has reached a remarkable milestone, scoring his 400th NHL goal against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. This momentous achievement unfolded just 3:13 into the first period, with MacKinnon quickly adding his 401st goal at 4:39.

MacKinnon’s historic goals came on shots against Jordan Binnington, the Blues’ goaltender and recent Olympic selection. He becomes just the third player in Avalanche history to hit the 400-goal mark, joining legends Joe Sakic (625 goals) and Michael Goulet (456 goals).

This season, MacKinnon is on fire, leading the NHL with 34 goals and ranking second in points, just behind Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers. Since being drafted in 2013, he has amassed the sixth-most goals, second-most points, and second-most shots on goal in the league.

Despite not having won the coveted Rocket Richard Trophy for most goals or the Art Ross Trophy for most points, MacKinnon has consistently dominated the scoreboard, leading the NHL in points for three consecutive years (2023-2025).

Adding to his impressive resume, MacKinnon also boasts 55 career goals in Stanley Cup Playoff games, the highest total in the NHL since his debut.

“Nathan has been a force on and off the ice, and tonight’s performance is just another testament to his incredible talent and determination,” said Avalanche head coach.

MacKinnon is set to represent Canada in the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. His selection was confirmed earlier today, alongside Avalanche teammates Cale Makar and Devon Toews.

This milestone not only enhances MacKinnon’s personal legacy but also solidifies his status as one of the premier players in the league, making this a pivotal moment for Avalanche fans and hockey enthusiasts alike.

Stay tuned for more updates as MacKinnon continues to break records and lead his team through the season.
