UPDATE: Kingsway High School clinched the championship at the Dan Trainer Duals, overcoming a six-point deficit to defeat Toms River East with a commanding score of 47-21 in the final match held in Collingswood on January 16, 2025.
The drama unfolded as Toms River East initially led the match, winning five out of the first eight bouts and taking a 21-15 lead after Damian Vonderlinden’s decisive 9-3 victory over Jayden Watson at 144 pounds. However, Kingsway’s tenacity shone through in the latter part of the match.
In a stunning turnaround, Kingsway secured four pins in the final six matches, starting with Ryan Glenn, followed by Ashton Ford and Matthew Miranda, propelling them to a lead of 33-21. Gabe Eisenhart then added a technical fall at 175 pounds, while Jamar Greaves concluded the series with a quick pin at 190 pounds. Chris Owen capped the victory with a decision win at 215 pounds, sealing a memorable championship for Kingsway.
