URGENT UPDATE: Schuylkill Haven has ushered in a new era of leadership with the swearing-in of a new mayor and key officials during a meeting held on January 5, 2026. This significant transition comes as the borough prepares for the upcoming year, promising fresh perspectives while many familiar names remain at the forefront of local governance.
John Williams has officially taken office as the new mayor, following his election, as confirmed by the borough council. Longtime Councilman Tom Gordon has transitioned from acting president to the official president of the council, with D. Edward Dress stepping in as vice president. This newly formed leadership aims to address pressing community concerns and bring stability to the borough’s administration.
In addition to the mayoral changes, three key figures from the fire department were sworn in: Fire Chief Keith Sweigert, Deputy Chief Trent Zulick, and Assistant Chief Tyler Donatti. Their appointments highlight the borough’s commitment to public safety and community service.
