Las Vegas Rotary Club Hosts Pickleball Fundraiser to End Polio

The Las Vegas Rotary Club is organizing a community pickleball fundraiser aimed at supporting the global initiative End Polio Now, led by Rotary International. This event is scheduled for February 7, 2024, from 13:00 to 16:00 at Chicken N Pickle Henderson, located at 3381 St. Rose Parkway. The fundraiser is part of a collaborative effort among Rotary Clubs across Southern Nevada.

Chaired by Janice Lencke, president of the Las Vegas Rotary Club, the event encourages participation from individuals of all skill levels. It aims to foster an atmosphere of fun, camaraderie, and charitable contributions while raising awareness about polio eradication efforts spearheaded by Rotary International.

“The Rotary Clubs of Southern Nevada, together with District 5300, are uniting to host this event to raise awareness and move one step closer to writing the final chapter in polio’s story—an ending marked by eradication,” Lencke stated. She emphasized the importance of community involvement, saying, “Let’s finish what we started and #EndPolio for good.”

The event promises a range of activities, including access to pickleball courts, lunch and refreshments, a commemorative photo opportunity, and a raffle ticket for participants. General admission tickets will also include one alcoholic drink ticket and free parking. Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to explore sponsorship opportunities to further support the cause.

Since its inception in 1988, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, of which Rotary International is a founding partner, has significantly decreased polio cases worldwide by more than 99.9 percent. This initiative remains a central focus of Rotary’s humanitarian efforts, reflecting the organization’s long-term commitment to public health and community service.

District 5300 is actively promoting the pickleball fundraiser throughout Southern Nevada and beyond, aiming to inspire participation from nearby regions in similar events.
