The 2026 World Snow Sculpting Championship concluded in downtown Stillwater, where Team Fjordwitches, composed of three talented women from Quebec, Canada, emerged victorious. The competition, held from March 1 to March 4, 2026, saw the team beat 15 other international contenders with their impressive sculpture titled, “The Inosculation of Souls.” In addition to the championship title, Team Fjordwitches received a cash prize of $1,500 and also claimed the coveted Artists’ Choice Award, which came with an additional $500.
The runner-up, Team Falcon from Mongolia, secured second place and a prize of $1,000. Team Thailand took third place and received $500 for their efforts. The People’s Choice Award, which also included a $500 prize, was awarded to Team Kawsay from Peru.
Celebrating Global Talent and Community Spirit
The competition’s judging criteria included creativity, technical execution, and overall visual impact, as explained by Robin Anthony-Evenson, president of the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce Foundation. “These artists represent the very best of international snow sculpting,” she stated. “The championship brings global talent to Stillwater while creating a shared winter experience that celebrates creativity, culture, and community.”
The event attracted over 67,000 visitors from March 1 to 4, making it a hallmark occasion in the city’s World Snow Celebration, which continues until March 10. The festival features live music, food and beverage events, a winter market, and various family activities. “Visitors are encouraged to experience the sculptures up close while enjoying the broader festival offerings,” Anthony-Evenson added.

The intricate snow sculptures will remain on display at Lowell Park as long as weather conditions allow. This opportunity enables both locals and tourists to enjoy the artistic creations following the competition.
