Avon Lineman Max Hauck Commits to Miami University Football

Avon High School’s standout offensive lineman, Max Hauck, has officially committed to play football at Miami University, marking a significant milestone in his athletic career. Hauck made the announcement on January 18, 2024, expressing relief and excitement about his future with the RedHawks.

“This feels great,” Hauck said. “It definitely feels like a weight lifted off my shoulders just to know that I have a home. But there are a lot of big things expected out of me. I am looking forward to a big and great future at Miami.”

Hauck, a team captain for the Avon Eagles, received interest from several Division I and II programs, but his aspirations led him to Miami, where he hopes to replicate his success from high school. “Coming from Avon and winning multiple state championships, I could do that in Miami too,” he remarked. “Being at a great program like Miami, academically and football-wise, is a great fit for me.”

Coaches Praise Hauck’s Potential

Avon head coach Mike Elder is optimistic about Hauck’s future at the collegiate level. He highlighted the challenges posed by the transfer portal, which has shifted recruiting dynamics. “A lot of schools are building their teams on guys that have two years of experience and are 20 or 21 years old, and I get it,” Elder stated. “That is the way the game has changed. Some people still value bringing in high-character kids and developing them themselves. I think that is what Max will be.”

Hauck initially attended an offseason camp at Miami, where coaches recognized his potential but did not have any scholarships available for his position at the time. Following a series of roster changes, he was offered a preferred walk-on spot that eventually led to a scholarship opportunity. “I was pumped that Miami believed in me,” he said.

A Proven Track Record

Hauck’s performance on the field is noteworthy. He is a two-time Division II state champion and played a crucial role in the Eagles’ offensive line, which allowed the team to average 40.2 points per game in the previous season. Hauck shared the honor of Avon’s team Co-MVP with quarterback Blake Elder as the team finished with a record of 14-1 and secured the Southwest Conference (SWC) title with a perfect 7-0 record.

“I am excited for Hauck. He is a captain and leader for our team,” Elder noted. “He started in 31 straight games and led us to back-to-back state championships. Every opponent we played knew that when the chips were down, we were running behind him. Miami of Ohio just got a great player.”

Hauck was one of nine Eagles recognized as All-Ohio, alongside teammate Ryan Stolarski, who will also join him at Miami. “We have been friends since kindergarten. Seeing each other succeed and being able to get these opportunities together is just a dream come true,” Hauck said.

At Miami, the RedHawks have a strong tradition in football, regularly competing for Mid-American Conference (MAC) titles. In recent years, they have made three consecutive appearances in the MAC championship game, with their last title achieved in 2023. The team ended the 2025 season with a record of 7-7 (6-2 in MAC), after losing to Western Michigan in the championship game.

As Hauck prepares to transition to college football, he carries with him the experience and accolades earned during his high school career. His commitment to Miami represents not only a personal achievement but also a continuation of the strong football legacy at Avon.
