Two Fatalities in Early Morning I-95 Crash in Philadelphia

A serious crash on I-95 north in Philadelphia’s Port Richmond section resulted in the deaths of two individuals early Friday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on March 15, 2024, just north of the Betsy Ross Bridge. Authorities received reports of a vehicle colliding with a guardrail, which subsequently caused significant damage to nearby power lines and left the car partially down an embankment.

Emergency responders pronounced both the driver and a passenger dead at the scene. The Pennsylvania State Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As a result of the incident, I-95 north was closed for several hours while officers conducted their inquiries and cleared the area. The highway reopened just after 5:00 a.m., allowing traffic to resume.
