UPDATE: Major high school sports events unfolded across Section III on January 24, 2026, including the exhilarating Auburn Sleigh the Day Cheer Competition. The competition showcased outstanding talent as cheer squads from around the region competed fiercely at Auburn High School.
The Boys Diving Burgos Dive Invitational highlighted remarkable performances, with Nicholas Canale from Oswego leading the pack with an impressive score of 572.5. His performance was key in a day filled with standout athletic achievements. Other notable divers included Chris Koegel from Cicero-North Syracuse with 478.7 and Nate Ornoski also from Cicero, scoring 469.4.
The action didn’t stop there. In boys basketball, the competition heated up with Fayetteville-Manlius dominating Chittenango with a score of 66-34. Meanwhile, Christian Brothers Academy secured a strong victory over PSLA @ Fowler, finishing 66-52. Other significant games included Watertown defeating South Jefferson 61-36 and Copenhagen overpowering Belleville Henderson 70-47.
The girls’ basketball scene also delivered thrilling matchups, with LaFayette narrowly edging out Morrisville-Eaton at 58-56. In the Fayetteville-Manlius Tournament, Fayetteville-Manlius continued their strong performance, defeating Chittenango decisively.
In boys ice hockey, Northern Adirondack triumphed over Fayetteville-Manlius with a score of 4-2, while Baldwinsville clinched a close victory against Fairport at 4-3.
