Klobuchar’s campaign launch was initially scheduled for October 2, 2023, but was postponed following the death of Pretti, who was shot by Border Patrol agents on September 30, 2023. In her video, Klobuchar expressed the weight of the current situation, stating, “We cannot sugarcoat how hard this is. But in these moments of enormous difficulty, we find strength in our Minnesota values of hard work, freedom, and simple decency and goodwill.”
The senator also called attention to the presence of approximately 3,000 ICE agents in Minnesota communities, attributing this to an administration that she claims fosters division. Klobuchar is advocating for a change in the state’s approach to governance, particularly in light of recent challenges. She addressed the ongoing scandal surrounding former Democratic Governor Tim Walz, who withdrew his bid for a third term amid allegations of fraud. Klobuchar stated, “I will make sure the people who steal taxpayer money go to jail and root out the fraud by changing the way state government works.”
