URGENT UPDATE: Just hours before its premiere, the highly anticipated Melania Trump documentary has been dismissed as a “farce” by industry insiders. Entertainment expert Segun Oduolowu made the alarming prediction on CNN This Morning, expressing skepticism about the film’s financial viability.
The documentary, simply titled “Melania,” is set to debut at the rebranded Trump Kennedy Center tonight, July 15, 2023. Despite the star power of the former First Lady and her husband, Donald Trump, early signs suggest it could be both a commercial and critical disappointment.
Oduolowu pointed out the staggering financial figures surrounding the project, stating, “Pocketing $27 million for a documentary is unheard of here in Hollywood. It was bought for $40 million, also a record number.” He noted that typical documentary sales range from $250,000 to $750,000, making this transaction highly unusual. “Big-budget screen scripts sometimes go for as high as $5 million,” he added.
The expert raised eyebrows at the substantial marketing budget of $35 million for a film projected to earn only $1 million to $2 million during its opening week. “No one in Hollywood does that kind of math,” Oduolowu stated. He also highlighted concerns from social media users, who reported minimal ticket sales ahead of the premiere.
Oduolowu further emphasized that while the documentary may not make traditional box office profits, it has already financially benefited those involved. “It’s already made money. It made money for the people that are involved. It made money for Melania, $27 million or $28 million. She’s walking away very happy,” he explained. However, he believes the film was never intended to generate significant box office revenue.
“This is going to stream on Amazon, where the propaganda machine can keep it going,” he said, questioning the documentary’s premise that positions Melania and her family as preparing to move back into the White House. “What family? Barron Trump is a sophomore in college. He’s not even moving back to the White House,” Oduolowu remarked.
As the premiere unfolds this evening, the world will be watching to see how audiences respond to a film that many insiders are already calling a farce. With such polarizing opinions circulating, this documentary is poised to spark intense discussions across social media platforms.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as the reactions from critics and audiences roll in following the premiere.
