Urgent Update: Two Loveland Men Die in High-Speed Crash

URGENT UPDATE: Two Loveland residents have tragically lost their lives in a high-speed crash following a police chase early Sunday morning. The Weld County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as 23-year-old Jose Meza and 19-year-old X-avier Cruz.

The deadly incident unfolded around 4:15 a.m. when a deputy from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office initiated a pursuit of their vehicle, which was reportedly driving without lights or a license plate. The chase began at the intersection of East 57th Street and North Garfield Avenue in Loveland.

Authorities confirm that the vehicle sped onto Interstate 25 before exiting and crashing near the intersection of Pheasant Crest Drive and Weld County Road 84. According to the coroner’s report, the driver lost control, leading to the vehicle colliding with a power pole.

Both men were ejected from the car. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital. A woman who was also in the vehicle survived with moderate injuries and is currently recovering, as confirmed by Larimer County Public Information Officer Kate Kimble.
