The Florida Institute of Technology is set to host a significant event featuring Maj. Gen. Timothy Sejba on February 19, 2024. As part of the F. Alan Smith Distinguished Lecture Series, he will present a public lecture entitled “Three Waves of Space Force-Led Innovation: Transportation To, In, and From Space.” This free event is designed to engage the Space Coast community in discussions surrounding the future of U.S. space operations.
Maj. Gen. Sejba, who previously commanded the Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Vice Chief of Space Operations. His lecture will be held at the Gleason Performing Arts Center on Florida Tech’s Melbourne campus from 17:30 to 19:00.
The presentation will focus on how the U.S. Space Force is spearheading innovations in critical areas such as launch operations, on-orbit capabilities, and return systems. These advancements are increasingly vital for national security, the commercial space sector, and scientific progress. Following his talk, attendees will have the chance to participate in a question-and-answer session, providing a unique opportunity to engage with a senior leader of the Space Force.
While admission is complimentary, the university requests that attendees register online prior to the event. This initiative underscores Florida Tech’s commitment to fostering dialogue on scientific and technological advancements and its longstanding connection to the evolving space industry.
The F. Alan Smith Distinguished Lecture Series aims to bring together nationally and internationally recognized figures to share their insights on topics related to science, technology, policy, and innovation. This event not only highlights the university’s dedication to education but also emphasizes the importance of community involvement in discussions about the future of space exploration and operations.
