Sacred Heart Indians Secure Fourth Place at St. Joseph Invite

The Hallettsville-Sacred Heart Indians boys golf team achieved a commendable fourth place finish at the St. Joseph Invitational, held on March 6, 2023, at the Victoria Country Club. The team collectively shot a score of 439, showcasing their competitive spirit against a challenging field.

Leading the charge for the Indians was Bryce Chovanetz, who posted a score of 96. His performance was instrumental in securing the team’s overall ranking. Following him were teammates Cole Taylor with a score of 109, Brennan Ralston at 114, Weston Trobl with 120, and Tyler Tumis who rounded out the scoring with 136.

In the girls’ competition, the situation was different. Only three golfers from Sacred Heart participated, which meant they could not register a team score. Nevertheless, individual performances shone through. Avery Beach secured a third-place finish overall with a score of 106. She was closely followed by Mabry Machac, who also scored 106 but placed fourth due to a tiebreaker. Ella Demel completed the trio with a score of 114.

The St. Joseph Invitational served as an important platform for the young athletes to demonstrate their skills and compete against peers from various schools. The experience gained from such tournaments is invaluable as the season progresses.

As the members of the Hallettsville-Sacred Heart Indians look forward to future competitions, their performance at this event sets a solid foundation for the remainder of the season.
