Divito’s Restaurant Builds Culinary Legacy in Tonawanda

On Delaware Avenue in Tonawanda, New York, owners Jenny and Mike Divito have expanded their family’s culinary legacy by opening Divito’s Restaurant. This venture follows the success of their neighboring establishment, Naked City Pizza, which has been thriving in the local community. With a commitment to homemade recipes and a focus on quality, the Divitos have created a dining experience that reflects their vision for a neighborhood gathering spot.

The couple decided to take a significant step by purchasing the building that houses Divito’s. “The pizza shop was and is doing very well, and we decided, Mike and I, to take a chance and purchase the building, purchase the restaurant,” Jenny Divito explained. Located at 3347 Delaware Avenue, the restaurant aims to provide fresh, homemade meals made from quality ingredients.

“Our whole idea is homemade, fresh everything, right down to the bread and salad dressings. Produce comes in every day. That was important to us,” Jenny emphasized. Mike Divito added that they wanted to create a place where they would want to dine frequently, offering delicious food at reasonable prices. “Jenn said, I want to create a place that we would go to two to three times a week. It’s reasonably priced but it’s also great food,” he said.

The menu at Divito’s features a range of Italian American dishes, including sandwiches served on freshly baked bread and various pasta options. A standout item is the spaghetti and meatballs, which holds a special place in the Divito family tradition. “The meatballs are my mom’s meatballs and so is the sauce,” Mike noted.

As the season of Lent progresses, the restaurant has introduced an extensive seafood menu. “We always run the fish fry,” Mike mentioned. Customers can choose from a variety of preparation styles, including broiled, beer battered, or Italian-style. “You name it. We can do it,” he added, highlighting the diverse offerings available during this time.

The fish fry season kicked off last week, and the Divitos have noticed a positive response from the community. “I don’t know what happened but people were warming it up,” Mike said, referencing the popularity of the fish fry.

Divito’s is designed to accommodate various dining experiences, whether patrons are looking for a quick sandwich or a sit-down meal in the spacious dining area. The couple hopes to cultivate a sense of community in Ken-Ton with their new establishment. “We went all in. Now we have this beautiful property on Delaware Avenue and two businesses that are thriving. Actually, we have a pretty good time doing it,” Mike reflected.

Open daily at 11:00 a.m., Divito’s serves both lunch and dinner, inviting locals to enjoy their homemade meals in a welcoming atmosphere. As the Divitos continue to build their family food legacy, they remain committed to providing exceptional service and quality that reflects their passion for cooking and community.
