Freeman sophomore Brody Sorensen and Mitchell Christian junior Silas Holdeman crossed the finish line shoulder to shoulder after completing the intense 4×800 meter relay at Thursday’s Flyer Invitational, an event hosted by Freeman Public. In a hard-fought race that set the tone for the meet, Sorensen and the Flyers edged out Holdeman and the Golden Eagles to claim first place in the relay, a decisive moment that propelled the Freeman boys to an overall victory in a competitive 15-team field.

The Freeman girls turned in a stellar performance as well, capturing the team title with 120 points, well ahead of runner-up Sioux Falls Lutheran at 96 points and Scotland/Menno at 85 points. The Flyer Invitational, known for attracting a strong field of 15 regional teams, served as a fierce proving ground ahead of upcoming competition.
