Urgent Update: Virgil Wayne Whitwell Passes Away at 84
BREAKING NEWS: Virgil Wayne Whitwell, aged 84, of Bonne Terre, has passed away peacefully at Mercy South in St. Louis on October 19, 2025. This devastating news comes as the community reflects on a life filled with love and dedication.
Born on February 25, 1941, in St. Louis, Virgil was a cherished family man whose passion for life resonated through his relationships. He was known for his unwavering love for his family and a profound connection to his beloved dogs. His enthusiasm for classic cars showcased his appreciation for craftsmanship and storytelling, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Virgil’s career with Teamsters Local #610 exemplified his strong work ethic, dedicating many years before retirement. His commitment to his profession was a testament to his character and dedication to community service.
He is survived by his five children: Vickie Ramsey (Rickie), Cheryl Mitchell (Dan), Betty Niccum (Jody), Michael Whitwell (Alicia), and Matthew Whitwell (Kristin). In total, he leaves behind 24 grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with other family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge. The visitation will continue on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Russell Dotson. Interment will take place at Bonne Terre Cemetery following the service.
Virgil’s warmth and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, we are reminded of the memories that make him undeniably special.
