Illegal Immigrant Arrested for Offering $10K Bounties on ICE Agents
UPDATE: An illegal immigrant was arrested in Dallas, Texas, after posting a shocking TikTok video offering $10,000 bounties for the murder of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the arrest of Eduardo Aguilar on October 14, 2023.
Authorities reported that Aguilar, a Mexican national who entered the U.S. illegally in 2018, urged “10 dudes in Dallas with determination” to carry out violent acts against law enforcement. His disturbing video has raised alarms about the increasing threats faced by ICE personnel.
DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin stated, “Thanks to the quick work of law enforcement, this illegal alien offering cash bounties for the murder of ICE officers is in custody. We are thankful this illegal alien, who had a firearm in his possession, was arrested before he could kill one of our law enforcement officers.”
When apprehended, Aguilar was found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun, which is a felony for illegal immigrants in the United States. He now faces federal charges for transmitting threats across state lines. This incident underscores the escalating violence against ICE agents, who have faced ambushes and direct threats from criminal organizations.
Just days earlier, a chilling TikTok video emerged, warning ICE agents that Mexican cartels have placed bounties on their heads. The video ominously stated, “Word in the streets cartels put a $50K bounty on y’all,” fueling fears of targeted violence.
In a broader context, the DHS highlighted that cartels are offering varying amounts for different threats: up to $2,000 for intelligence gathering, $5,000-$10,000 for non-lethal assaults or kidnappings, and up to $50,000 for assassinations of high-ranking officials.
Legal actions are ramping up against individuals making threats. Recently, a federal grand jury charged two men for threatening an ICE agent and his family on social media. One defendant, Frank Andrew Waszut, posted an Instagram video that included images of the ICE officer, inciting further violence.
The climate of hostility toward law enforcement is alarming. In recent weeks, DHS has revealed threats against families of ICE personnel, including a disturbing audio message received by the wife of an officer, which compared ICE to Nazis.
This urgent situation reveals a deepening crisis where law enforcement officials are not only facing heightened job risks but are also becoming targets in a larger battle against organized crime. As the DHS strengthens its position against such threats, it is clear that the safety of law enforcement personnel and their families is increasingly at stake.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant. More developments are expected as investigations continue into the networks behind these threats. Stay tuned for updates on this critical story.
