Xuly.Bët Spring 2026 Collection Celebrates Health and Unity
The Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection from Xuly.Bët, led by designer Lamine Badian Kouyaté, made a bold statement on the runway. The show opened with a striking look featuring a model clad in a white hazmat suit and face mask, symbolizing the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This choice reflected Kouyaté’s desire to address contemporary issues, emphasizing themes of health and joy amidst global challenges.
Kouyaté, known for his focus on inclusivity and realwear fashion, articulated his vision through a translator: “This collection seeks to heal a world that’s gone haywire, with never-ending conflicts and war.” He stressed the importance of collective consciousness, noting that “there is only one planet—this is the thing that unites us all.” The designer aimed to transition from fear to love, culminating in a celebratory finale filled with dance and music.
Throughout the show, Kouyaté drew inspiration from the Caribbean, infusing vibrant energy into the collection. The performance concluded with a lively display that captivated the audience, underscoring the essence of togetherness and joy. The name Xuly.Bët, which translates to “keep your eyes open” in Wolof, resonates with Kouyaté’s message for the collection: to remain aware and compassionate towards one another.
As the collection progressed, it showcased Kouyaté’s signature elements, including screen-printed denim and red-stitched stretch separates designed for comfort and self-expression. He emphasized the message of kindness, urging viewers to focus on what can bring people together rather than division. “This collection is about the kindness shown towards one another and going beyond to look at what can unite us,” he stated.
The Spring 2026 collection has not only garnered attention for its aesthetic appeal but also for its thoughtful commentary on society. As the fashion industry continues to evolve, Kouyaté’s work remains a reminder of the potential for fashion to foster connection and understanding in an increasingly complex world.
