New Bubble Tea Shop Opens in Portland’s Nasons Corner
A new bubble tea shop has opened in Portland’s Nasons Corner neighborhood, expanding the local beverage scene. Miss Sweet Bubble Tea, located at 897 Brighton Avenue, occupies the space previously held by Tin Pan Bakery. The café, which began welcoming customers recently, offers a diverse menu that includes bubble teas, fruit teas, classic teas, and frozen drinks.
Owner Keri Li, who has extensive experience in the restaurant industry, expressed her enthusiasm for the new venture. “Bubble tea is really popular everywhere in the world right now,” she stated. “It’s a sweet drink, and it makes people happy.” Alongside a variety of teas, Miss Sweet Bubble Tea features snacks such as pork buns, spring rolls, egg tarts, and crab rangoon, as well as desserts like cookies and puddings.
Experience and Future Plans
Li is not new to the food business; she co-owns China Villa in Westbrook and has over 30 years of experience running Chinese restaurants, including the former Jan Mee in Portland and Jan Mee II in Gorham. Her expertise is evident in the thoughtful selection of offerings at her new café.
Currently, Miss Sweet Bubble Tea operates as a takeout-only establishment, with plans to introduce outdoor seating next year, enhancing the customer experience. The café is open from Wednesday to Monday, between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
As bubble tea continues to gain popularity, particularly among younger consumers, local entrepreneurs are responding to this trend. The rise of similar shops across Maine reflects a growing interest in unique beverage options. Miss Sweet Bubble Tea aims to cater to this demand, providing a cheerful and flavorful experience for all who visit.
