Holy Family Haven Opens 72 Affordable Apartments in Clarkston
BREAKING: The grand opening of Holy Family Haven in Clarkston marks a significant milestone in affordable housing with the launch of 72 new apartments. This urgent initiative is designed to support families in need, and half of the units are already occupied.
Just announced, the ceremony featured enthusiastic participation from students at Holy Family Catholic School, who contributed artwork and celebrated the occasion on Wednesday. Jonathan Mallahan, executive director of Catholic Charities Housing, expressed gratitude for the students’ involvement, stating, “It was so nice to have all of the Holy Family students there to celebrate the grand opening.”
Located at 1411 Port Drive, Holy Family Haven was officially blessed by local clergy, with city leaders and community members in attendance. Mayor Monika Lawrence praised the project, noting, “John Pilcher promised Clarkston a top-notch housing project, and he really delivered.”
The complex is not just a shelter; it aims to provide a secure community for families. According to Mallahan, 30% of the units are still available, and families interested in applying can reach out to Catholic Charities for assistance. The goal is to offer more than just housing; it’s about creating a supportive environment for families to thrive.
Holy Family Haven will cater to families and individuals earning between 30% and 60% of the area median income, with 35 units designated for individuals who have experienced homelessness. The development received a substantial boost from KeyBank Community Development Lending & Investment, which provided $31.4 million for construction.
In addition to housing, Catholic Charities plans to offer a comprehensive suite of support services, including mental health counseling, substance abuse recovery, transportation to medical appointments, senior support, and employment assistance. Fresh food distribution will also be part of the community initiative.
This new development is a beacon of hope for many families struggling to make ends meet. Mallahan emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “It’s not just a place to live. It’s a foundation for families to make lasting changes in their lives and achieve their goals.”
For families interested in applying for these apartments, applications can be submitted through housing.cceasternwa.org/how-to-apply. The urgency of this housing development highlights the ongoing need for affordable living options in the community.
Stay tuned for more updates as families continue to move into their new homes at Holy Family Haven.
