Scott Hoying Exits Dancing With the Stars, Focuses on Tour
UPDATE: Scott Hoying has officially exited Dancing With the Stars during the highly anticipated Wicked Night episode on October 21. Following his elimination, Hoying is now gearing up for an upcoming tour with Pentatonix, starting in just two weeks.
In an exclusive interview, Hoying, 34, shared his mixed feelings about leaving the competition. “I was going to do both at the same time, which I had been stressing about and losing sleep over,” he told Extra. The silver lining of his exit? A complete focus on the tour, although he jokingly noted, “I won’t be with Rylee,” referring to his professional partner, Rylee Arnold, 20.
After the results aired, social media erupted with speculation regarding the elimination. Fans connected the dots between the judges’ scores and the upcoming tour, questioning if this influenced the decision. However, many pointed out that none of the tour dates fall on Tuesdays, suggesting Hoying could have managed both commitments.
In a heartfelt moment on the Official Dancing With the Stars Podcast, Hoying reflected on their performance, where they earned a score of 28 out of 40 for their contemporary dance to “The Wizard and I.” He admitted to becoming “really flustered” during the routine, saying, “I just like, blacked out and didn’t kill it.” Hoying expressed regret for not delivering his best, especially for Arnold, who he praised for her hard work.
The emotional toll of live television was evident for Hoying. “I had no thoughts in my brain but then became suddenly very aware that I was dancing on live TV,” he remarked. Despite the challenges, he found beauty in the experience, stating, “It was a beautiful thing to be challenged in a new way.”
Hoying’s journey on the show brought back childhood insecurities, contrasting his usual performance confidence with Pentatonix. “If you come to a Pentatonix concert, I’m just on the fly, winging it,” he said. The vulnerability he felt during the dance competition helped him grow personally, making him feel stronger as he steps back into the spotlight with his musical group.
As Hoying prepares for the tour, fans are left wondering how his experience on the dance floor will shape his upcoming performances with Pentatonix. With the tour just around the corner, he is embracing this new chapter head-on.
Stay tuned for more updates on Hoying and the latest from the world of Dancing With the Stars.
