Houston Woman Demands Answers After Landscaping Stones Removed

URGENT UPDATE: A Houston woman is demanding answers after the city’s solid waste team reportedly removed large landscaping stones from her property. On September 18, 2023, Maria Trevino discovered her carefully placed stones missing, igniting concerns for her safety.

Trevino, who strategically positioned the stones to prevent cars from driving into her yard, expressed frustration after receiving no clear response from the city’s 3-1-1 service. “Where are the rocks? Where are the stones?” she questioned as she sought information from authorities.

The landscaping stones had been in place for about a year and a half, significantly reducing incidents of vehicles veering off the road. “Ever since I had put them in that design, I never had that problem again,” Trevino explained. However, with the stones now gone, she fears a return to the dangerous situation.

On the day the stones vanished, Trevino’s security cameras captured footage at 10:03 a.m. showing the stones in place. Just three minutes later, at 10:06 a.m., the video reveals a large piece of machinery at her property, dumping something heavy into its truck.

Trevino assumed the City of Houston’s heavy trash team mistakenly collected her stones during a delayed yard waste pickup originally scheduled for September 16. “The stones weren’t trash; they were there for a reason,” she emphasized.

After the incident, Trevino contacted 3-1-1 multiple times—on September 26 and again on October 23—but reported receiving no follow-up or resolution, only report numbers. “I would like for them to bring me some stones to put there to replenish the ones that were taken,” she said.

Despite the absence of cars on her property since the stones were removed, Trevino remains anxious. “I dread it every weekend that passes because it usually happens between Thursday and Monday,” she said, highlighting her ongoing concern for safety.

Eyewitness News has reached out to 3-1-1 for clarity on the situation and possible solutions for Trevino. Additionally, she has been advised to file a claim with the city, though past reports indicate that only 17% of claims were paid out by the city between 2022 and 2024.
