UPDATE: A tragic crash on Interstate 85 South near Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte, North Carolina, has claimed one life early this morning. The incident was confirmed by the Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency (Medic), who responded to the scene shortly after the emergency call came in at 2:25 a.m.

According to reports from Queen City News, the crash occurred around 1:15 a.m., resulting in the immediate dispatch of paramedics to the location. Upon arrival, they pronounced the individual deceased, with no other injuries reported that required hospital transport.

Local authorities were quick to respond, leading to significant traffic disruptions on the southbound lanes of I-85. Reports from WCNC Charlotte indicate that the southbound lanes past Exit 37 remained closed for nearly 2.5 hours as emergency crews worked on the scene.
