UPDATE: As Halloween approaches, charitable organizations in Vacaville are rapidly shifting focus to the urgent needs of the holiday season. Local groups are kicking off their annual drives aimed at providing support to families facing hardships during a time when community support is crucial.
The Vacaville Fire Department has launched its annual Christmas Fund, calling on residents to contribute to assist local families in need. This year, the department aims to help even more households than in previous seasons. “All donors will receive a letter for their tax records,” officials stated, emphasizing that “every dollar helps us reach more Vacaville residents in need.” Donations can be made at CityofVacaville.gov/News.
For over 40 years, the Vacaville Christmas Wish program has been dedicated to matching sponsors with underprivileged children. Each ornament on their “wish trees” displays a child’s name and three holiday wishes, ranging from toys to winter coats. Community members and businesses are encouraged to “adopt” children or donate cash for volunteers, referred to as “elves,” to shop on their behalf. The deadline for families to apply is November 19, 2025, with more information available at VacavilleChristmasWish.org.
At the same time, IBEW Local 1245 has initiated its Fall/Winter Food Drive to benefit the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at the union hall located at 30 Orange Tree Circle or contributed online through their Virtual Food Drive. The drive runs until December 31, 2025, with a request for items like canned meats, vegetables, and shelf-stable milk.
Additionally, Budget Blinds of Fairfield/Vacaville is aiming to collect 2,500 food items for The Vacaville Storehouse by November 14. Donations can be made at their showroom located at 57 Commerce Place, Suite D, or can be picked up directly by their design team.
The community is also gearing up for the annual Festival of Trees, which benefits Opportunity House, Vacaville’s homeless shelter. This event runs from November 19 through December 2, with tree donors invited to contribute decorated artificial trees. Drop-off for trees is scheduled for November 17 between noon and 6 p.m. at the Vacaville Museum. Participants will receive a free ticket to the “Cookies for a Cause” event, further encouraging community involvement.
These initiatives underscore the pressing need for support as Vacaville prepares for the holiday season. Community members are urged to step up and make contributions to ensure that every family can celebrate with hope and dignity.
