URGENT UPDATE: A woman was injured in a serious accident involving a tanker truck and a pickup truck in Jamestown this morning. The collision occurred around 11 a.m. on November 2, at the intersection of 900 1st Ave. S, just outside the former Hardee’s location.
According to Lt. Nick Hardy of the Jamestown Police Department, the incident transpired as both vehicles were turning north onto First Avenue from Business Loop West. A tanker truck, filled with unleaded gas, was in the outside lane while a pickup truck occupied the inside lane. The male driver of the pickup reportedly overcorrected, causing the truck to collide with the side of the tanker, resulting in the pickup being dragged for an estimated 30 feet.
Emergency responders were quick to act, with the Jamestown Fire Department dispatched at 10:56 a.m.. A total of 14 firefighters arrived on the scene with one heavy rescue vehicle. Fire crews had to extricate the female passenger from the pickup by cutting off the vehicle’s door, as she was experiencing neck and back injuries.
The injured woman was subsequently transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center by the Jamestown Area Ambulance. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that no other injuries were reported in this incident. The fire department cleared the scene by 11:35 a.m..
This accident raises concerns about road safety in the area, particularly at busy intersections involving large vehicles. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
