UPDATE: A Halloween morning burglary in West San Jose led to the rapid arrest of five individuals, confirmed by police just moments ago. The incident unfolded around 10:15 AM when two suspects were seen breaking into a garage and stealing various items.
According to San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih, a witness alerted authorities as the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. Thanks to automated license plate reader technology, officers swiftly identified and tracked the car. They intercepted it outside a residence on the 100 block of Muirfield Drive.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a stolen rifle, a privately made handgun, and items taken during the burglary. Officers also found evidence linked to other burglaries in the area, raising concerns about a rising trend of property crime.
The suspects include a 55-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman, and a 32-year-old woman, all from San Jose, who were arrested on suspicion of burglary. They were booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
Additionally, a 44-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, residents of the Muirfield Drive home, face charges for possession of stolen property and firearm-related offenses. Both were also taken into custody.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of crime in the Bay Area, where sophisticated burglary crews are increasingly active. Authorities are urging anyone with information about this case to reach out to Detective Chris Santistevan at 408-277-4401 or via email at [email protected].
