Women to Unite for $10,000 Fundraiser in Bemidji on Nov. 13

UPDATE: On November 13, 2024, the Bemidji community will come together for the highly anticipated 100+ Women Who Care event, aiming to raise $10,000 for a local nonprofit. This urgent initiative not only promotes philanthropy but also fosters a vibrant social atmosphere among attendees.

The event kicks off at the SouthShore Hotel on Lake Bemidji at 5 p.m. with a social hour featuring light appetizers and a cash bar. The main program begins promptly at 6 p.m. and will conclude by 7 p.m.. This year’s gathering marks the fourth event in Bemidji, following previous successes that have exceeded fundraising goals.

With a simple yet effective format, attendees donate $100 each, contributing to a collective pool that directly supports a local nonprofit chosen during the event. The festive mood is palpable, as evidenced by the growing attendance at past gatherings. The first event in April 2024 raised $11,700 for Evergreen Youth and Family Services, followed by $14,500 for the Village of Hope and $17,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Bemidji. These figures highlight the community’s remarkable generosity and commitment to local causes.

“This event is a powerful way for women to give back to our community without the usual constraints of fundraising,”

said Kay, a member of the planning committee. Guests do not need to provide personal information or commit to future obligations—just a willingness to help those in need.

Upon arrival, participants receive a voting ticket and have the option to nominate a local nonprofit. Four agencies will be randomly selected to present their missions, each given three minutes to connect with the audience. Attendees will then cast their votes, and the organization with the most support will receive the entire evening’s proceeds.

The planning committee has established guidelines to ensure fairness and maximize community benefit. No nonprofit can receive funds more than once every four years, and should attendance exceed 200 contributions, proceeds will be split between two organizations.

For those unable to attend, donations can still be made through friends or by contacting committee members directly. Questions can be directed to Kay at (218) 556-3031 or Mary at (218) 760-6277.
