For Saugus, Rep. Jessica Giannino emphasized that this funding is essential for maintaining the “longevity and quality of public housing in our district.” Giannino stated, “The Healey-Driscoll Administration has been a strong partner in addressing our needs and delivering vital investments that help maintain and upgrade our public assets.”
Rep. Donald Wong reinforced the critical nature of these upgrades, affirming, “This funding is essential to upgrading and ensuring the safety of our state-funded public housing buildings.” He stressed the need to protect the well-being of residents who rely on these facilities.
Additionally, Charlie Patsios, Chair of the Swampscott Housing Authority, expressed gratitude for the received funding but underscored a need for more support to assist seniors and residents effectively.
For the Saugus Housing Authority, Chairman William B. Stewart could not be reached for immediate comment, but the urgency of the situation remains clear as these communities work towards enhancing living conditions for their residents.
This announcement comes at a pivotal time, as public housing across the state faces growing challenges. The funding allocated through the Affordable Homes Act is seen as a critical lifeline, ensuring that residents have access to safe and comfortable living environments.
