David Harbour recently shared a humorous incident from the set of Stranger Things that caused him to break character during filming. The actor, known for his role as Jim Hopper, recalled a particular moment in Season 3 that left him unable to continue with the scene due to uncontrollable laughter.
In an interview with People, the 50-year-old Harbour explained the context of the scene. His character was having a tense conversation with Finn Wolfhard’s character, Mike, and Millie Bobby Brown’s character, Eleven. Harbour’s character expresses his anger, insisting that Mike needs to go home because he does not want him in bed with his daughter. The pivotal line, “It’s your grandma,” unexpectedly caused Harbour to laugh repeatedly, disrupting the shoot.
“I couldn’t say it for like an hour,” Harbour recalled. “I laughed and laughed to the point where the children, Millie and Finn, were like, ‘What is wrong with you? We need to get to work.'” The actor, who is generally known for his professionalism on set, found this experience particularly memorable. He apologised to his younger co-stars, acknowledging that he usually maintains a serious demeanor while filming.
Reflecting on the incident, Harbour noted, “That really is probably one of my favorite memories because I’m a pretty responsible guy when I go to work, but I was very, very irresponsible that day.”
As fans eagerly await the premiere of Season 5, which will drop its first four episodes on November 26, Harbour and Brown recently shared a heartwarming reunion at the world premiere event. The chemistry among the cast continues to resonate with audiences, contributing to the show’s enduring popularity.
The blend of nostalgia and camaraderie among the cast members only adds to the excitement surrounding the upcoming season. For viewers, Harbour’s candid recollection provides a delightful glimpse into the lighter moments behind the scenes of a beloved series.
