Attack on Titan: The Last Attack Returns to Theaters Remastered

The highly acclaimed anime film, Attack on Titan: The Final Chapter – The Last Attack, will return to theaters in Japan with a remastered version. Scheduled for release on January 9, 2024, the film promises enhanced visuals and sound, providing fans with a fresh experience of the series’ conclusion. Following this special screening, a standard version will be available starting on January 16, 2024.

Produced by MAPPA, the remaster enhances the original film, which compiled the final episodes of the beloved anime series into a cohesive cinematic experience. While it may not have achieved the same box office success as other anime features like Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, it has carved out a significant place in the hearts of fans. The remastered edition will feature a “Dolby Cinema remaster” that aims to elevate the climactic battles, particularly the intense confrontation between Eren Jaeger and his former comrades.

The release of this remaster has sparked excitement among anime enthusiasts. As of now, there is no information regarding whether the remastered version will be made available in North America or other regions, but fans are hopeful for a wider release.

Director’s Enthusiasm for the Remaster

Yuichiro Hayashi, the director of The Last Attack, expressed his gratitude towards the fans who supported the film during its initial release. In an official statement, he remarked, “THE LAST ATTACK is back for a screening!! This is all thanks to all the fans who came to the theater multiple times to support us when the film was released last time. Thank you! And this time it’s not just a re-screening, the visuals and sound have been re-adjusted to bring out the film’s full potential.”

Hayashi emphasized that this updated version enhances the overall viewing experience, stating, “There’s no doubt that the sense of immersion in the film has been heightened. Let’s continue the Attack with us for decades to come! We hope you will come and relive the rumbling at the theater!!”

Alongside the theatrical release, fans can stream the final season of Attack on Titan and its compilation film on Crunchyroll. Additionally, a physical release is set for next year, with a 4K UHD Blu-Ray scheduled to arrive in Japan on January 21, 2024.

The return of The Last Attack marks an important moment for anime fans, providing a chance to experience the series’ epic conclusion in a new light. As anticipation builds, many are eager to see how the remaster will enhance the already gripping narrative of Attack on Titan.
