Microsoft Resolves Major Windows Bugs in Urgent Patch Tuesday Update

URGENT UPDATE: Microsoft has just rolled out critical Patch Tuesday updates, addressing persistent bugs affecting Windows 10 and Windows Server 2025 users. This vital update, launched on October 10, 2023, resolves issues that have plagued customers for weeks, significantly improving system stability and user experience.

The most pressing concern involved a bug causing the Task Manager process to duplicate upon closure, leading to unnecessary resource consumption. With the release of KB5068861, users can now eliminate this issue without complex workarounds. This patch is a relief for many who have been affected since the problem was first identified a couple of weeks ago.

Windows 10, although out of mainstream support, continues to receive essential security updates through the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. Over the past month, users reported two significant bugs. The first bug relates to the ESU eligibility for devices, which has now been resolved in the out-of-band update KB5071959. Users are advised to apply this update and restart their devices to access the latest enhancements.

Another critical issue reported by Windows 10 users involved an alarming message stating, “Your version of Windows has reached the end of support,” even affecting Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) SKUs still under support. This has been patched through KB5068781. Failure to install this update may require users to resort to previously described workarounds.

Windows Server 2025 users also faced troubles, specifically regarding server-side applications reliant on HTTP.sys, which struggled with incoming connections. Additionally, IT administrators encountered issues with Active Directory (AD) groups exceeding 10,000 members. Both issues have been addressed in the recent update KB5068861.

As always, customers who do not install these updates will need to depend on Known Issue Rollbacks (KIR) workarounds that have been shared previously.

These updates are essential for maintaining optimal performance and security, especially for organizations relying on these operating systems. Users are encouraged to act swiftly to ensure their systems are fully patched and secure.

Stay tuned for more updates as Microsoft continues to refine its offerings and enhance user experience.
