King Charles III Sends Personal Condolences to Osbourne Family

King Charles III reached out to the family of the late rock icon Ozzy Osbourne following his death on July 22, 2023. During a recent episode of “The Osbournes” podcast, Sharon, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne shared that they received a heartfelt letter from the monarch, expressing his condolences after Ozzy’s passing.

Sharon Osbourne, 73, described the gesture as significant, stating, “Our king! Now we’re talking!” She emphasized the importance of King Charles’s outreach, highlighting his compassionate nature. “He’s an amazing person. Not just because he wrote to us when Ozzy passed… if he did it for us, you know he does it for many, many, many people,” she said.

In her comments, Sharon portrayed King Charles as someone attuned to the concerns of everyday people. “Here’s a man who does know what’s going on in the street with people, not just politics,” she noted. She praised his dedication to various causes, from the environment to animal welfare, asserting that he possesses “a good heart.”

Sharon recalled previous instances where the king showed kindness to Ozzy, including sending birthday wishes and reaching out when Ozzy was recovering from a serious motorcycle accident. She expressed gratitude for the personal letter, which was hand-delivered, describing it as a testament to the king’s character. “He took the time out of his day to write us, have it hand-delivered to us, a note from the king for Ozzy’s passing with his condolences. And that says so much,” she added.

Jack Osbourne, 40, also reflected on the emotional impact of his father’s death. He recounted discovering the news while in Los Angeles, explaining, “I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock at my house door, at around 3:45 in the morning.” The moment marked a significant turning point in his life. “When I looked through my window and saw it was him, I just knew something bad had happened,” he recalled.

Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease. The family announced his death in a statement to Us Weekly, saying, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.” They also requested privacy during this difficult time.

Kelly Osbourne, 41, shared additional sentiments regarding the outpouring of support following her father’s death. She mentioned receiving a handwritten letter from late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon, expressing surprise and appreciation for the kindness shown to their family during this painful period. “There’s so many people that we can go on and on and on about that I never expected to hear from,” she noted.

Jack Osbourne’s emotional journey continued as he reflected on his father’s struggles in recent years, acknowledging the toll it took on Ozzy and their family. He stated, “I wish he was still here. I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go, and I think people saw that at the show,” referencing Ozzy’s final performance with Black Sabbath in Birmingham, England, just weeks before his death.

Through this difficult time, the support from King Charles III and others has provided a measure of comfort to the Osbourne family, illustrating the profound connections that can exist across different walks of life. The heartfelt letter from the king stands as a reminder of compassion in the face of loss.
