BREAKING: Craig Sheil, an adjunct instructor at Fitchburg State University, has just been awarded the prestigious MassCUE Pathfinder Award at the 2025 MassCUE Conference held at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. This recognition highlights his significant contributions to the field of educational technology.
Sheil expressed his gratitude, stating,
“It is such an honor to be recognized for this award. I am certainly proud of the work that I have done along my educational journey.”
His dedication to enhancing educational practices has made a profound impact on educators across Massachusetts.
The MassCUE Pathfinder Award is bestowed upon educators who demonstrate exceptional leadership and inspire their peers. This year, Sheil shared the honor with Dr. Rayna Freedman, a fifth-grade teacher at Jordan Jackson School in Mansfield.
With over 23 years in public education, Sheil transitioned from a high school mathematics teacher to a digital learning specialist, currently supporting staff at Bedford High School in Bedford, N.H.. His work focuses on integrating technology effectively in educational settings, emphasizing the importance of adapting to new challenges, including the rise of artificial intelligence in education.
“I love that I am able to take learnings from this role and apply it to the classes that I co-teach or teach at Fitchburg State University,” Sheil stated. His dual role allows him to bring innovative teaching methods from the classroom into higher education, benefiting both students and fellow educators.
The Massachusetts Computer Using Educators (MassCUE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting digital teaching and learning. Their recognition of Sheil underscores the growing importance of technology in education, especially as educators navigate the complexities of modern learning environments.
Sheil’s achievement not only marks a personal milestone but also serves as an inspiration to educators across the state. As technology continues to evolve, so too does the need for leaders who can guide others in embracing new tools and methodologies.
