Philadelphia Police Deliver 425 Thanksgiving Meals Today!

UPDATE: The Philadelphia Police Department is actively delivering 425 Thanksgiving meal boxes to families in need today as part of its annual initiative, Operation Thanksgiving. This heartwarming event, taking place on November 21, 2023, highlights the department’s commitment to supporting local communities during the holiday season.

Hundreds of families across Philadelphia are receiving these boxes filled with essential Thanksgiving items, including turkey, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, cake mix, green beans, canned goods, stuffing, cornbread, and gravy. The initiative is the result of months of preparation and generous contributions, with officers collecting over 16,000 donations from the community.

Student volunteers from Roman High School joined forces with police officers to pack the goods, ensuring that each box is not only filled with food but also accompanied by a heartfelt note from Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel.

This year, officers from each police district will personally deliver these meal boxes to families in the neighborhoods they serve, fostering a strong community connection. The collaborative effort showcases the spirit of giving and the importance of supporting those who may be struggling during the holidays.

As the deliveries unfold throughout the day, communities are coming together to celebrate the true meaning of Thanksgiving—gratitude, compassion, and support. The Philadelphia Police Department’s Operation Thanksgiving serves as a vital reminder of the impact of community outreach.
