Madison County Sheriff Issues Urgent Travel Advisory Amid Snowstorm

URGENT UPDATE: Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood has just issued a critical travel advisory for Madison County due to severe lake effect snow. This advisory, effective Friday, November 28, 2023, warns motorists of hazardous driving conditions that could impact travel safety until at least 7 a.m. Saturday.

Lake effect snow is anticipated to accumulate between 7 to 15 inches, creating treacherous whiteout conditions and slippery roads throughout the region. Road crews are actively working to manage the situation, but officials stress the importance of caution for anyone who must travel.

“We want to remind people to be cautious,” Sheriff Hood emphasized. “If you go out on the roads, make sure you give yourself plenty of time and give the plow trucks plenty of space. We want everyone to get to their destinations safely, including our plow truck drivers and first responders.”

While this travel advisory does not impose restrictions on travel, residents are urged to limit driving if possible. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destinations and maintain ample space when stopping at intersections and near other vehicles.

Authorities will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary. Your safety is the priority during this severe weather event. Stay tuned for the latest developments and consider sharing this advisory to keep others informed.
