Fetty Wap Thanks 50 Cent for Support During Prison Sentence

Fetty Wap has expressed his gratitude toward 50 Cent for the support he received during his recent incarceration. Following his release from a Minnesota prison earlier this week, Fetty Wap shared how the rapper played a significant role in his life during a challenging period. The artist, known for his hit song “Trap Queen,” spent over three years in prison after being sentenced for drug-related charges.

In his first interview since regaining his freedom, Fetty Wap spoke on The Breakfast Club about the assistance he received from 50 Cent, stating that the veteran rapper was more present than anyone else in the music industry during his legal troubles. “50 did a lot for me,” Fetty remarked, emphasizing that 50 Cent was available at all times, ready to help both financially and mentally. He recalled, “Whatever I needed, he was right there.”

Fetty described the nature of their conversations, revealing that 50 Cent often provided crucial advice and motivation. He recalled instances when 50 urged him to stay focused and continue making music, saying, “You should’ve kept going hard.” The support was not just motivational; 50 Cent was also proactive in ensuring Fetty’s well-being, asking questions like, “How you getting home?” upon his release.

The rapper took to Instagram to share his joy and support for Fetty Wap’s return, posting a clip of the interview with a caption that read, “WOP HOME fresh out the FED’S ready to work. He good I got him let’s get it.” This public acknowledgment reflects the strong bond formed between the two artists during a time of adversity.

In addition to 50 Cent, Fetty Wap mentioned other artists who supported him during his time in prison, including Coi Leray, Chief Keef, and Albee Al. Their encouragement contributed positively to his mental state while incarcerated.

Fetty Wap was released on January 8, 2024, approximately 11 months ahead of schedule, having been expected to remain in prison until December. He was arrested in September 2021, just before a scheduled performance at Rolling Loud NYC, facing federal drug charges for allegedly transporting more than 100 kilograms of narcotics from California to Long Island. In August 2022, he pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute at least 500 grams of cocaine. Following his sentencing in May 2023, he spent over three years in a Minnesota prison.

In a statement to Billboard upon his release, Fetty expressed his appreciation for the support from his family, friends, and fans. He stated, “It truly means everything to me.” Looking ahead, his focus is on community initiatives aimed at supporting at-risk children. He aims to expand access to education, technology skills, and vision care, allowing kids to reach their potential.

As Fetty Wap embarks on this new chapter, he is committed to making a meaningful impact in his community while rekindling his music career. The support from 50 Cent and others in the industry marks a significant turning point for the artist as he seeks to move forward with purpose.
