Immaculata Triumphs at Holmdel Tournament with Five Individual Titles

Immaculata High School secured a significant victory at the Holmdel Tournament, finishing in first place with a total score of 209.5 points. The team, currently ranked No. 16 in the NJ.com Top 20, clinched five individual titles, showcasing their strength and determination on the mat.

Among the standout performances were Forest Rose, who won the title at 106 pounds, and Trevin Highton, who triumphed at 165 pounds. Both wrestlers achieved impressive pins in their final matches, further solidifying Immaculata’s dominance at the event.

Holmdel High School followed closely in second place, accumulating 198 points. Their success was highlighted by Sayan Rao, who secured a hard-fought 7-4 decision over Lucas Loffredo in the final at 113 pounds. Additionally, Dylan Placca earned a title at 138 pounds with a decisive 4-0 decision against Derek Sutphen of Immaculata.

Toms River North finished third with a total of 156 points, despite not winning any individual titles. Wrestlers John Yannariello and James Mauti both reached the finals, showcasing their competitive spirit. Raritan rounded out the top four with 155 points, bolstered by Owen Brackett’s victory via a major decision at 132 pounds.

Other schools that made notable contributions to the tournament included Sayreville, Scotch Plains-Fanwood, Barnegat, and Hamilton West. The event highlighted the depth of talent across participating teams, making it a memorable showcase of high school wrestling in New Jersey.
